CFAO set to make Made in Nigeria Bikes

All is set for the CFAO Group to produce
its first of Yamaha brand of motorcycles in Nigeria in conjunction with its technical partner, Yamaha Motor Corporation of Japan, as it has fixed September 2015 as the rollout date.

The two companies had in April this year jointly incorporated a company named CFAO Yamaha Motor Nigeria Limited to assemble Yamaha motorcycles in Nigeria. The assembly plant located on the premises of the CFAO within the Amuwo Odofin industrial zone in Lagos is said to have a production target of 70,000 Yamaha motorcycles by 2018.

The incorporation of the company was achieved less than four months after a joint venture agreement was signed by the two firms with the objective of contributing to the development of the country’s transportation industry.

A statement by the CFAO obtained on Tuesday confirmed the development, adding that “as a result of this incorporation, CFAO Yamaha Motor Nigeria Limited is now set to fix its factory equipment; test-run the assembly process and appoint several dealers in preparation for the first roll out of brand new Yamaha motorcycles with effect from September this year.”
